Found Poem Assignment
INTRODUCTION
One of the ways to understand the tone or mood of a piece of literature is to use words from the literature to create an original poem. To create a Found Poem, readers select and combine memorable words and phrases from a text to create or "find" a poem. The reader also attains a stronger sense of the value of words in creating a mood in a story. For these poems, you will be working in smalls groups with an assigned topic from The Bluest Eye. In addition to better understanding tone and mood, each group will also be working within the constraints of a certain poetic structure in order to better understand the various types of poems you may encounter. Each group will be responsible for teaching the structure to the class and explaining the Found Poem you created. Refer to the class calendar for presentation and due dates.
